Being Unique

It’s true and everyone knows it; the media has the largest impact on our fashion. As much as the media impacts our fashion choices, it isn’t the only impact. Many people like to blame the media for choosing our clothes for us, and in a way they do. We don’t get to choose what is sold in stores, and the stores go by what the media thinks everyone should wear. The media definitely has an impact, but we can choose to wear whatever we want, and they don’t have to have the impact that everyone says they do.

Many people are afraid to show they are different. They’re afraid they will get made fun of, afraid that people will stare. But if you truly want to be unique, you have to take a step away from everyone else. You have to wear something different. This can be difficult because we can only find in stores what everyone else is wearing, but you may want to mix it differently than everyone else.

If you honestly want to be unique in your fashion, you may make Lady Gaga your inspiration. This doesn’t mean you have to take on her fashion style, but Lady Gaga took a step away from the rest of the world and is known for her sense of fashion. Some people may point and laugh, but others admire her for her individuality.

If you’re going to be different, people are going to think you’re odd. To be honest, isn’t that what odd is? You won’t be normal, but that’s okay. People say they’re normal and that they aren’t any different from anyone else, but there isn’t any real ‘normal’ is there? Everyone is different and unique. If you want to show you’re different, your best bet is in your fashion, where it is as plain as day and everyone will see that you’re unique.

Media: Do They Make Our Fashion Decisions?

We can all safely agree that the media has an impact on our fashion. We tend to wear what the celebrities wear and we want to wear what we see in the magazines. We see pictures of people wearing something we like and then we go spend money on it. We know that the media has an effect on our fashion, but are they controlling it?

When we look at magazines, we see beautiful women wearing beautiful clothing. Right then and there, the idea is planted in our head. I want to wear that. We want to look beautiful like the woman in the picture. We want to wear that style of clothing.

There isn’t any alternative, is there? The media decides what is fashionable and posts it online, in magazines, on the television. The only clothing put in stores is what everyone is wearing. We can’t get away from the trends because it’s the only thing we’re capable of buying because the stores don’t offer anything else.

Some may see this as a bad thing, but is it really that bad? It may minimize individuality, but that also minimizes the teasing that goes on because of what people wear. It minimizes our choice in fashion, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, because then we don’t have to worry about what we are going to wear. We are just going to go with the latest trend.

In a way, if the media decides what we should wear, it almost eliminates one of our basic decisions in life. We still have decisions because the media puts out a variety of styles, but because of the media making the majority of our decision, we don’t have to worry about what kind of clothing to buy or if our fashion won’t fit in. In reality, if the media really does make our fashion decisions, then we are all fitting in together because we have that in common. We aren’t divided because of the differences in our clothing. Because someone else is making that decision, doesn’t it make our lives a lot easier?

Your Daughter’s Interested In Fashion

Fashion is an important part of a young woman’s life. If your daughter is around that age where fashion is important, don’t lead her away from it. Use it to your advantage. How can you use your daughter’s interest in fashion to your advantage?

You can use her interest in fashion as an allowance. If she does her chores and behaves, offer to take her on a shopping trip. You can either give her money for her chores, or go shopping with a budget without actually giving her the money so you know what the money is going toward. The problem with this, though, is that you may overspend on her. Only allow her to get a few things each shopping trip depending on how often you go shopping.

If your daughter really knows what’s “in”, you can use her as your fashion guide. Whenever you need advice, you know that you can go to her. You may, for example, need a second opinion on a date dress. Your teenage daughter will definitely be able to tell you if that dress is “in” or not. You can use your daughter as a second opinion and a fashion expertise.

You can use fashion as bonding time. You will bond when you go shopping together and if you need advice on fashion. If you know she’s interested in it, you can use it as conversation starter and even as a girl’s night out. Even if you don’t have the money to go shopping, you can bond over window shopping and trying on clothes for no reason. At least it will give you two time to talk to each other.

The best thing about knowing your daughter is interested in fashion is that you always know what to get her for her birthday and for Christmas. Take precautions when going shopping because your taste in great clothing may not be the same as hers. You may want to, instead of buying her clothing, buy gift cards to stores she likes so she can pick out her own clothing.

Celebrities’ Impact

Why do celebrities have so much impact on our fashion? That’s a question I’m sure many of us wonder, especially the men out there who just don’t understand fashion.

Perhaps we dress like the celebrities because we can then feel closely connected to them. The celebrities are honestly the popular people of the world. The majority of people want to be popular. So we dress as celebrities so we can closely associate ourselves with them and try to get to know them better because they are our idols.

Maybe we dress like celebrities because we have accepted them as the ones who have the right to tell us what to wear. They either wear something unique, which is then picked up as a trend, or the trend already started and they have picked up on it. So when we see the celebrities wearing it, we know that it’s okay for us to wear it.

What if we dress like the celebrities because we feel as if that’s what has been accepted as the new trend? We could, perhaps, dress like the celebrities because a trend has begun and everyone else is wearing it. As said before, we all want to fit in, so because everyone else is wearing it, we must wear it too.

We may dress like the celebrities because what the celebrities are wearing is the only thing sold in stores. We can’t keep all our clothes from 20 years ago, simply because they become ruined from wear and tear, and eventually we must buy a new wardrobe which just happens to consist of what the celebrities are wearing.

Maybe we dress like the celebrities because of all these reasons. The question is still a mystery. Do we dress like celebrities because they are our idols, because it’s in the stores, or because it’s a popular trend? Perhaps some of us have different excuses to why we wear what the celebrities do. But the question still remains. Why do celebrities have so much impact on our fashion? You have to be the one to answer that for yourself.

Shocking Hollywood Fashion in 2010

Hollywood stars are normally the best-dressed people seen in the fashion magazines. They wear the newest trends, the latest styles and colors, and are up-to-date with the latest makeup and hair styles. But some of Hollywood’s stars prefer to keep their own fashion alive and well, even when the rest of the world looks at them strangely. Here are some of the shocking fashion trends that has been seen in Hollywood this year.

Several stars, including Pamela Anderson, Jodie, and Halle Berry, were seen around Hollywood in nothing more than a clad bikini top, if that. In some cases, like on Anderson, there was barely any top at all. These stars combined their some-what bikini top with bikini underwear, a belt that covered just enough of the right place, and, in Berry’s case, a stylish pair of matching pants.

In place of a miniskirt, BaiLing was seen in a tutu. She topped it off with a fur crop top and strappy high-heeled sandals. This is not a look one saw regularly in Hollywood last summer.

Transparent fashions were also a big hit in 2010. From lacy see-through tops, to sheer fabrics, to netting, many Hollywood stars found a way to show off their skin last summer. While some opted to wear something underneath, others opted to let the lacey pattern cover them up.

Shoes were one of the strangest accessories seen around Hollywood this year. From knee-length boots, to strange-looking heals, to indescribable-looking shoes, Hollywood stars took “strange” to a whole new level.

The winner of the shocking outfits of the year award should go to Lady Gaga. Not once has she been seen wearing anything most people would call “normal.” Lady Gaga has a look all her own, which is one of the things that makes her so popular, and stand out in a crowd. She has a mix of crazy styles and colors, strange costumes, and odd accessories.

One thing’s for sure: nobody can say that Hollywood’s boring.

Fashion trends change from season to season and year to year. Not only do the styles change, but the colors too. For the winter 2010-2011 season, there are not many restrictions when it comes to color in fashion. The latest colors in fashion come from a mix of inspiration, including nature, bohemian accents, urban warrior, and a touch of classic style.

With this abundance of inspiration, the latest color palette varies greatly from light neutral shades to rich vibrant tones allowing for a varied collection to choose from. Lighter shades come in a range from beige and white, then deepen to darker shades of charcoal, grey, and black, then deepen to even richer colors including dark reds, blues, and purples.

Even with this wide array of colors, there are some that stand out more than others, including bright red, camel, deep purple, and khaki. A good mix of these colors, and slightly different tones of them, will give fashionistas a great winter wardrobe that will see them all the way through to spring. They may want to stack up on several different outfits in these shades, including pants, skirts, tops, holiday dresses, shoes, and accessories. Some great combinations of these colors include mixing khaki with any of the brighter tones, reds and purples, mixing camel with the deeper tones, even a full outfit in either khaki or camel. If that’s too boring for some, they can always add a splash of one of the brighter colors, either with a scarf, a belt, or some other accessory.

These latest colors can be found in a multitude of today’s fashions, including stretch pants, long coats and jackets, miniskirts, tights, and a variety of shoes. They can be found in popular accessories including bags, scarves, belts, and jewelry. But some areas of the world, such as Hollywood, don’t get as cold as other places, nor do they see snow. What they may see a lot of during the colder winter months is rain. How do Hollywood’s starlets stay warm and dry, yet fashionable, when the cold winter rain comes down? By wearing the latest trends in wet gear.

Denise Richards kept herself and her kids dry and comfortable in the rain with colorful raincoats, boots, and gloves. Jennifer Love Hewitt opted for a hooded jacket in place of an umbrella.

So many styles, so many choices. When preparing for rainy weather, it’s important to remember that staying dry is top priority. There are plenty of stylish rain gear available this season, in an array of colors. Shoppers will find a mix of raincoats, ponchos, boots, goulashes, and umbrellas to suite their individual styles. The colder the rain in their area, the warmer the gear has to be. They can try layering their clothes, such as a warm sweater under a sleek rain coat, to stay not only dry, but warm and cozy too.

Other fashionable accessories shoppers may want to choose from to stay both dry and warm include thick socks, scarves, gloves, and hats. They too are available in a wide range of styles and colors, including all of this season’s latest looks.

Short dresses are all the rage this New Year’s Eve, from just below the knee and higher. Longer dresses can look just as stylish with an added touch of bling. Beading, sequin, sparkles, and dazzlers can be worn all over the dress, or placed about them sporadically. Sequins can be added in a variety of colors, and beading can be added in a wide mix of colors to add a lot of sparkle and shine. Think Taylor’s Swift’s silver beaded dress or Fergie’s multi-layered sequined dress. Both looks are not only stylish, but fit right for the wearer too.

Straps come in a variety of styles too. This New Year’s Eve, the fashionable looks include halter dresses, v-neck, cross-back, double straps, single shoulder, twist-around, back-braided, and strapless. When shopping for the perfect New Year’s Eve dress, buyers should keep something else in mind other than just what will look fashionable for New Year’s Eve: they should also keep in mind if the dress is stylish enough to get them through the rest of the season, and maybe even into next season. There’s no rule saying that a dress bought for a New Year’s Eve party can only be worn that one time. Smart shoppers know to find something that will work for multiple occasions.
