Fans of today’s celebrities are not only interested in what their upcoming projects are, but who they’re wearing. This is not a new trend, nor is it only a few years old. Celebrities have been designing clothes since Esther Williams started her own line of bathing suites during her time with MGM. Depending on the star you’re looking for, you may find one or two designs at labels that have been around forever, such as Yves Saint Laurent and Givenchy, or a star who has launched an entire collection, such as Jessica Simpson, who released a full collection of clothing, shoes, intimates, luggage, and other products.

But in the fashion world, a star’s name on the label may not be enough to see it fly off the racks. The fashions have to look good and be trendy for buyers to seek it out and purchase it. Of course, there will be those customers who buy something simply because of the star’s name on the label, but most shoppers are still going to want something they would actually wear to go along with that name. Each shopper will have her own opinion, and no two may be alike.

Fashion trends change from season to season and year to year. Not only do the styles change, but the colors too. For the winter 2010-2011 season, there are not many restrictions when it comes to color in fashion. The latest colors in fashion come from a mix of inspiration, including nature, bohemian accents, urban warrior, and a touch of classic style.

Knowing What to Wear and When to Wear It

When it comes to fashion, seasonal or otherwise, it can be a struggle knowing what to wear for various occasions. This can be especially hard during the winter months when one needs to be warm but remain fashionable as well.

Men tend to have it easier when it comes to knowing what to wear since their choices are limited. Women on the other hand can have difficulty knowing what is appropriate for some functions. The terms used on some invitations can throw off even the most fashion conscious.

Some of the popular terms that cause confusion include business casual, smart casual, casual, formal, semi-formal and a host of similar terms. Adding to the confusion is the need to wear seasonally appropriate clothing as well. In winter dressing nicely still is important, but one has to find the right coat and shoes to go with their outfit.

For men business casual generally calls for a nice pants and shirt without a jacket. For women, a suit with a feminine blouse in soft colors, tailored pants or skirt is ideal. These can be accessorized with simple jewelry such as a string of pearls. A nice pair of pumps can finish the look.

Itâ€™s hard to go wrong with a nice black dress. No wonder most women have a little black dress for most occasions. Black is generally a safe color for most events. Of course, by itself it is not generally worn at weddings. It is the same with white, as rarely does anyone but the bride wear white to a wedding.

Almost as important as the outfit itself are the shoes and handbag. For women, these items have to complement the dress, but there is also the issue of what type of shoes is appropriate. This is dependent on the occasion, time of day and of course, the type of surface at the location of the event.
