Celebrities Stay Dry and Stylish in Wet Winter Weather

A lot has been written about how celebrities stay warm and fashionable at the same time in winter. Winter makes people think of cold and snow. But some areas of the world, such as Hollywood, don’t get as cold as other places, nor do they see snow. What they may see a lot of during the colder winter months is rain. How do Hollywood’s starlets stay warm and dry, yet fashionable, when the cold winter rain comes down? By wearing the latest trends in wet gear.

One of the most stylish trends this season is animal prints. Celebrities like Katie Holmes are finding this trend in various rain gear to stay dry this winter, including ponchos and boots. Seal and Heidi Klum were caught in a surprise rainstorm close to Christmas, but managed to stay dry and comfortable in long trench coats and holding stylish umbrellas, the fashion accessory to have on hand when it’s wet outside. Denise Richards kept herself and her kids dry and comfortable in the rain with colorful raincoats, boots, and gloves. Jennifer Love Hewitt opted for a hooded jacket in place of an umbrella.

So many styles, so many choices. When preparing for rainy weather, it’s important to remember that staying dry is top priority. There are plenty of stylish rain gear available this season, in an array of colors. Shoppers will find a mix of raincoats, ponchos, boots, goulashes, and umbrellas to suite their individual styles. The colder the rain in their area, the warmer the gear has to be. They can try layering their clothes, such as a warm sweater under a sleek rain coat, to stay not only dry, but warm and cozy too.

Other fashionable accessories shoppers may want to choose from to stay both dry and warm include thick socks, scarves, gloves, and hats. They too are available in a wide range of styles and colors, including all of this season’s latest looks.

New Year’s Eve 2011 Styles

With only one week left until the New Year is rung in, many people are already shopping for their New Year’s Eve party dress. There are several new styles available this season, in all of the latest fashion trends and colors. Don’t get left behind when the ball drops. Pick out your New Year’s Eve dress from a variety of choices.

Short dresses are all the rage this New Year’s Eve, from just below the knee and higher. They can be dressed up with ruffles, bows, and bat wings to add some needed coverage where it may be needed, or worn alone to show off sexy legs. Longer dresses can look just as stylish with an added touch of bling. Beading, sequin, sparkles, and dazzlers can be worn all over the dress, or placed about them sporadically. Sequins can be added in a variety of colors, and beading can be added in a wide mix of colors to add a lot of sparkle and shine. Think Taylor’s Swift’s silver beaded dress or Fergie’s multi-layered sequined dress. Both looks are not only stylish, but fit right for the wearer too.

Straps come in a variety of styles too. This New Year’s Eve, the fashionable looks include halter dresses, v-neck, cross-back, double straps, single shoulder, twist-around, back-braided, and strapless. There’s a style for everyone, and by shopping carefully, buyers can find the perfect one for them.

When shopping for the perfect New Year’s Eve dress, buyers should keep something else in mind other than just what will look fashionable for New Year’s Eve: they should also keep in mind if the dress is stylish enough to get them through the rest of the season, and maybe even into next season. There’s no rule saying that a dress bought for a New Year’s Eve party can only be worn that one time. Smart shoppers know to find something that will work for multiple occasions.

While many celebrities are known for their impeccable style, some take it a step further. Many have branched out into the world of cosmetics, business and fashion design. If you ever wonder about celeb fashion and what they are wearing, chances are it’s one of their own creations or that of one of their peers. Many celebs are actively involved in the design process itself.

For many celebrities, it is not just about money, for some it gives them a chance to be creative outside of their usual sphere. Additionally, every celeb name comes with something retailers love – a built-in fan base. So there is often a lot of buzz before these products even hit the store shelves. Some of the well-known celebrity names who are trying their hand at fashion design include:

-Sean Combs (P Diddy): The rap mogul launched Sean John in 1998 and by all accounts it has been a resounding success.
-Jessica Simpson: The singer’s fashion range includes coats, boots, jeanswear and accessories.
-Heidi Klum: This multi-talented supermodel has designed clothes for men and women. She also has two maternity ranges called Lavish and Loved.
-Jay Z: The rap mogul’s RocaWear has sales of roughly $700 million annually. Its products include shoes, jeans, handbags and jewelry.
-Russell Simmons: the Def Jam co-founder started Phat Farm fashion line in 1992. The brand is known for its innovative and daring style. Its unique mix of street styles with modern fashion has resonated with buyers.
-Victoria Beckham: This singer turn businesswoman is a hot commodity when it comes not only to her perfumes, but her fashion line as well.

Also taking a taken a stab at fashion are recognizable names like J Lo, Elle MacPherson and Reba McIntyre. For some of these big names, fashion is not enough. Many have included fragrances and accessories, often collaborating with top beauty companies like Coty and Parlux Fragrances, Inc.

Are TV Style Shows a Good Thing?

Fashion, and in particular celebrity fashion has such a major social impact it is often the subject of intense media focus. There are a number of shows dedicated to this topic offering everything from simple style tips to full beauty makeovers. Not surprisingly, these shows and their themes do have their detractors. Some shows verge on the more controversial side in a bid to attract viewers.

Style Show Controversies

One of the most common criticisms of these shows is that they promote unrealistic expectations among viewers. Some programs go one step beyond style makeovers and offer cosmetic procedures to make a whole new you. Critics argue this goes against the principle of self acceptance. There are of course those who argue that people who are unhappy with the way they look should be able to change it.

Some also feel that TV style shows often push their own agendas, promoting certain designers or styles. For others, TV style shows are good sources of ideas. Still, there is nothing wrong with getting a heads up on what celebs are wearing. It makes a lot of sense to strike a balance between celebs you admire and your own sense of self expression. This is especially so for teenagers and young adults so are generally guided by what they see on TV.

There are shows created especially for those wanting to revamp their style on a budget. They address many issues commonly experienced by both men and women. These include dressing to suit your body type and finding fashion bargains. One thing is certain, style shows are here to stay, regardless of criticism. They are enormously popular even among people who don’t necessarily follow celebrity fashion trends. Each style show tends to offer its own theme and format, so viewers will always have their pick of advice on what to wear and when to wear them.

Are Fashion Knockoffs Worth The Money?

The endless pursuit of style frequently puts us at odds with our financial reality. For many people, the current popular styles simply must be had, regardless of cost. This frequently leads to increased personal debt and other issues. It doesn’t help that the media is often saturated with reports on the latest celebrity fashion.

For some people, the answer to their style problems is buying style knockoffs. They can get the look they want for a mere fraction of the cost of the original item. Some of these are made under special agreement with the original creator. Others may be unauthorized copies of designer clothes. One thing that soon becomes apparent after purchase is that not all knockoffs are the same.

The Downside to Buying Knockoffs

One fact about buying some of these items is that it could cost you more in the long run. They are generally not made to the same standards as the original items or with the same materials. This applies especially to accessories like sunglasses and handbags. Often these items don’t last very long due to shoddy workmanship.

On the other hand, specially licensed items do adhere to some sort of standards. They may not be the same as those for originals, but they are often of sufficiently good quality. For some people this is the only way they can get access to the glamorous dresses worn by their favorite celebs. Many companies and designers also offer cheaper versions of their more expensive products.

There are many types of knockoffs available to the cost conscious style watcher. If a celebrity is wearing it, chances are there is a lower cost version offered somewhere. Aside from clothes you also have the option of buying replica watches and costume versions of expensive jewelry pieces as well. The Internet is a good place to look for lower cost versions. If you are savvy enough, you can buy them when they are on sale.
